YOU GOT TO HATE YOUR LIFE
1. You got to hate the life you are living! Mild dissatisfaction, some uncomfortableness isn't going to do it. You have to be to the point of hating your rolls of fat, hating looking like crap, hating being on medication, hating not being able to have fun like your fit friends.
Now if you are not hating your life you can get there. All most everyone will be accepting of the state they are in, concentrating on pleasure and ignoring the bad. We are very good at ignoring the bad. START FOCUSING on the bad. Soon you start to hate it. When I was fat and out of shape I would grab a roll of fat curse at it for preventing me from living the life I wanted.
2. Realize change is a process. A long process. I looked at getting in shape as my act of revenge. Revenge on the fat that made me look gross, Revenge on society that judged and excluded me for being fat. Revenge on movies and TV, I’d show them I'm just as good looking as they are. Revenge on the fast food/junk food companies tempting me with crap, I am stronger than them and refuse to be doomed to a crap life no matter what your temptations are.
3. Refuse to give up. Be a boxer, you only lose when you don't get back up after being knocked down. I failed and binged or quit for a while. But I realized I can't win by quitting. Only by putting one foot in front of another no matter how hard I stumble will I ever get to be where I want to be.
4. Find examples of people who have been where you are and have gotten to where you want to be. LEARN FROM THEM!
It will save you lots of heartache and time (may not make it easier)
We live in a great country of freedom. Unfortunately we are free to do nothing (spiritually, intellectually, and physically) outside of seeking base pleasures and living a crap life. With all the modern conveniences of delicious fast/junk food, plentiful cars, labor saving devices we have lost the will to seek meaningful improvement to our lives. We satisfy ourselves with base pleasures and never develop as human beings. When others dare to try and rise up and improve themselves many people; often those closest to them; are there to drag them back down.
"You don't have time for that" "You'll give up after a while just like always" "I tried it, it was too hard/boring/time consuming/waste of money (implying if they can't do it there is no way you could succeed)"
Hate your life; get revenge; live a fantastic life full of effort and accomplishment; a life you will be proud to look back on.

The Secret to Bodybuilding and a lot more!
The Secret to Bodybuilding and a Whole lot more.
Steve Michalik in his book Atomic Fitness reveals a great secret.
A key to helping you to understand yourself. It blew my mind when I read it. It clicked a lot of pieces into place for me. Spiritual, fitness, psychological, many areas.
Steve asserts that we are 2 intelligences and 1 person forming a trinity. Okay, I'll try to explain; keep in mind I am still sorting this all out myself.
Most people know we consist of mind and body. I used to think the mind was me and I fought the body for control of myself. Steve writes, the body has its own intelligence. It breathes for us, keeps our heart beating, digests our food, feels and reacts to pain and pleasure, all apart from the mind. The mind is a seperate intelligence that reasons from past experience, creates and responds to emotions and stress, the mind creates our perceptions of the world and how we should live in it.
I used to think the mind was really me, but according to Steve, the body and the mind intelligences are like 2 pets. They guide and help us operate in the world but they are not really you. Consequently these 2 intelligences can and do give inaccurate information about what we should be doing with our lives. Our body intelligence wants to lie around watching TV, eating cheatos, not going into the discomfort of exercising. Our body's mind, left on its own would make us fat, bloated weaklings good for nothing. Our Mind wants us to avoid stress like asking a girl on a date, public speaking, learning new things, experiencing new ideas. Left to its self the mind would have us doing the same old thing day in day out avoiding any possiblity of emotional hurt.
The 3rd entity is actually you. It is outside of body and mind and can be hard to tease out. This 3rd entity has been called: your spirit, your soul, your higher self. This is the real you, your very essence, your perfect self yet unrealized in reality (whoa, that was a bit esoteric). This 3rd entity is the real you trying to realize/express its self through the world in the form of your mind and body.
Here is my hallucination:(not what actually occurs but a useful construct/theory of what happens that helps me understand the information) My hallucination: you a start out as a disembodied soul/spirit floating in the ether. You want to get in on the fun down on earth (the material universe) so you are born with a body and mind. Your spirit controls both intelligences uses both to accomplish its purposes on earth (the material plane) Unfortunately because of our devolved culture the mind and body fight back each wanting to be in control. With all the noise in our culture (TV, ipods, books, School etc) our true self/spirits/soul's voice gets lost. The body and the mind winning most if not all battles for control.
What is the voice of our true self? Our aspirations, dreams, our true passions, Love of all(not lust but the realization of all things being interconnected). Our higher self is what motivates us to exercise to have a better body; learn a new subject, step out of our comfort zone and try something new.
When you meditate/day dream on what you want to do with your life, your higher self/soul/spirit speaks. Our mind stifles the ideas as silly or impractical, our body says it is to demanding or will take too long. Those people who tame or at least master mind and body (like a lion tamer or a horse whisperer) achieve amazing things. Arnold Schwartzenegger, General George Patton, Bruce Lee, Albert Enstein and many others are examples of people who have overcome mind and body to express their true selves.
This knowledge makes a lot of things clearer in my life. I welcome your comments and thoughts.

The Juice of Life!
The only 2 things you have control over in your life, is your body and your character.
If and how a person cares for their body shows a great deal about their character.
Mediocre or bad body = mediocre or bad character.
Character = being true to your values.
Values = the rules you have to get what you want.
Discipline = following those rules persistently.
Fitness builds discipline with huge side benefits of health and vigor.
Vigor = the juice of life i.e. sex, power, most importantly joy in living.
What do people want out of life? The juice of life!
What seperates people?
The quantity and quality of The Juice of Life you get.
How do you get The Juice of Life.
You find someone who has it and learn from them.

A New Personal Training Business Model
One big flaw of personal training is you pay for results before you get them. You pay a specific amount and hope you get results. There are very few situations in which you do this in everyday life. You don’t pay for car repairs until you are the repairs are done. You don’t pay for dental work until after it is done. Why is personal training different?
It is different because of a dirty little secret. Most clients drop out. The clients lose motivation and want to quit. The trainer, to mitigate his/her losses charges up front. Charging up front also may help to motivate the client to do the training. In my experience, surprisingly, most people will give up the money or worse, whine, complain and threaten, to try and get a refund. Almost every time, the client has given up on themselves and has no real reason to stop training other then not having (or refusing to use) the motivation tools to continue.
Now I am proposing a new model. The trainer doesn’t charge anything. At the end of 30 days the client pays what he/she feels is appropriate for the results they have achieved. This requires a high degree of trust on the trainer’s part. Since the trainer is being paid on results, the trainer is highly motivated to get results for the client. Therefore, the trainer must be very selective in who he/she chooses to work with. The client will need to convince the trainer of their sincerity and strength of character. The trainer will need to stay in close touch with the client throughout the process and come up with solutions for: lack of time; lack of motivation; and nutritional slippage. The client is free to dump the trainer for any reason and, likewise, the trainer can dump the client. No contracts, No fees.
In my model payment doesn’t have to be cash; gold, guns, guitars, cars etc can be the payment. Barter is a great thing when done right.
It should be an interesting and rewarding journey.
